CANDY SMITH | Learn Pastor
Candy has served on staff at FBCR for almost 20 years. She currently serves on the executive staff as pastor of spiritual development and ministry, working primarily in the areas of education and outreach, coordinating programs such Adult Bible Fellowships, Adult Ministry, Faith Formations, as well as working with the Missions and Recreations ministries. Prior to emerging into this position, she served as the associate pastor of ministry for five years and adult singles minister for nine years.
After graduating from Howard Payne University in the early seventies, Candy served the Baptist General Convention of Texas working with students across the state. She became the minister of youth at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Dallas in 1973, where she served for eight and a half years. In 1982, Candy moved to Houston to become the youth minister at Westbury Baptist Church. Westbury later formed a Single Adult Ministry, giving her the opportunity to become the minister of adult singles. She served at Westbury for almost nine years before joining the staff at FBCR.
Candy is a native Texan who was born and raised in Dallas. She currently serves on the board of trustees at Howard Payne University and is on the board of directors for SeminaryPlus. She has also served on several Texas Baptist committees, including one of the Baptist General Convention of Texas re-visioning teams.
Several of her articles have been published in Single Adult Ministry Journal, as well as in The Single Adult Ministry Solution Notebook, Single Magazine, Brief Basics for Texas Baptists and several other publications.
