GERALD WARE  |  Pastor for Senior Adults





Gerald came to serve First Baptist Church Richardson as associate minister of music in 1983. As our current associate minister of music and pastor for senior adults, he directs the Goldenaires (Senior Adult) choir and Men’s Chorus, coordinates all ensembles associated with the Goldenaires and gives direction to the Senior Adult Ministry of the church.




After receiving his Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., Gerald attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.There, he completed his Master of Church Music degree in 1976.  He was ordained to the ministry in 1978 by Portland Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and served churches in Oklahoma City and Pauls Valley, Okla., prior to joining FBCR. 



Gerald has written articles for The Church Musician, The Senior Musician and Worship Magazine, in addition to co-authoring a book, “Keys to a Successful Youth Choir Ministry.”  Gerald conducts clinics and conferences throughout the country on youth and senior adult choir work.  He also is past president of The Singing Men of North Central Texas.




Gerald and his wife Dee Ann have two daughters, Kendra and Kaycee, who are both talented musicians.  An interesting fact about Gerald is that he is an identical triplet and both of his brothers are also ministers at Baptist churches in Oklahoma.
