Hello loved ones! Well, we have just finished our first full and busy day here, in Romania! If I could choose one word to sum up today, it would be testify. Today, (Sunday) we did a lot of testifying! It all started this morning after we groggily got out of bed and had a wonderful Romanian breakfast complete with coffee, bread, jam, meats, eggs, and CUCUMBERS!!!! :)
We then split up and half us went to Arkita, a remote village were one of the church plants is located, and the other group went to the church plant in Saes. Most of us shared our testimonies at each location and I (Mark) was asked to preach at Arkita. It was so amazing getting to worship with our brothers and sisters here!
We then all met back up for a nice lunch and, to our surpise, we met two girls on mission from First Baptist Garland! Small world! We then got to head back to the hotel and catch a little nap before meeting up at the main church in Sighisoara where Jennifer, Randi, and Liz got to share their testimonies. Casi and I led a few worship songs and then I got to preach. After a beautiful worship service with our Romanian brothers and sisters, we had some good ol' European pizza and then went back to our hotel for a team meeting and a bunch of laughs!
With everyone in good spirits, we are now heading to bed. We have our first children's day camps tomorrow!
1. Continue to pray that Sam is allowed to join us soon.
Hello everyone! After about 24 hours of straight travel, we have finally arrived! We are now in Sighisoara, Romania and settling down for bed (we are 8 hours ahead of you guys back in the States). Thank you so much for your prayers as they definitely guided us here safely.
So as we were boarding the flight to London, I received word that Sam was not allowed to catch his flight to meet us in London as he did not have a "transfer visa." We did not know that he needed this, and so Sam will be waiting in Nairobi until he can meet with embassy officials on Monday. Please be in prayer that this is all sorted out and that Sam will be able to join us soon!
Meanwhile, as we landed in Bucharest we found out that they had misplaced Randi's suitcase and my guitar. Randi does have some clothes in other bag and the other girls are helping her out. Please be in prayer that they would locate our luggage and get it to us soon!
Despite all of this, we are all in good spirits (including Sam). We know God has a perfect plan for all of this.
So tomorrow, we will be splitting up to visit two church plants, one in Arkita and one in Saes. We will each be giving our testimonies and then I will be preaching, so please be in prayer for us as we share of how awesome our Father is!!! Welcome to the official blog for the 2010 College and Young Adult Romania Mission Trip! We are about a month and half away from our trip! So please be in prayer for us as we make our preparations! Also, be in prayer that we would receive financial support as all team members have quite a bit to raise still.
There will be 11 of us FBCR missionaries heading over to Romania for 14 days (July 16-30th). We will be joining our partner church, Betania Baptist, to put on Vacation Bible Schools in villages surrounding Sighisoara and Drobeta Turnu Severin. There, we will get to share the love of Christ to hundreds of children of various ages by playing games, doing crafts, and telling them bible stories. It will truly be an adventure! So check back here from time to time to get the latest news and updates about our trip. Also, we will be blogging daily while in Romania and uploading pictures and videos as web connections allow! So stay tuned!!!
