love local

Every month we come together to Serve around North Texas. Some projects are open to families serving together, and others are limited to adults only. If your next step is serving others, join us in one of our upcoming projects listed below.

BACKPACK BASH

Backpack Bash — It’s time to bless our local students and teachers as they prepare for next school year.  From May 15 – June 15, 2022, we help them do this in the safest way possible by developing partnerships with RISD, other faith-based and corporate partners and key companies in the educational circle including D&W SourceAll to create a COVID safe backpack with supplies for each student.  Our goal is to bless 7500 students with backpacks and supplies for the 2022-2023 school year. We’re asking for you to partner with us in blessing these students. For only $20 you can help us outfit a child with a technology protective backpack filled with RISD approved school supplies, pre-packaged to prevent contamination and ready to be given to a student in need.

AUSTIN STREET SHELTER

Austin Street Center provides safe shelter and meets the basic needs of the most vulnerable homeless. Founded in 1983, Austin Street Center is the largest low barrier shelter in Dallas that serves men, ages 45 and older, and women, ages 18 and older. Each person who finds shelter with Austin Street Center is provided a safe place to sleep, showers, clothing, and meals. Each month our church members clean, prepare, cook and deliver a baked potato meal to Austin Street Center Shelter. This is traditionally the 4th week of the month. As the pandemic has changed many things, this group continues in a modified version in order to provide for the needs of this wonderful ministry, Austin Street Center’s goal is to help clients transition from homelessness to independence. #HelpThemHome

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS - ESL

This ESL program has been going strong for over 50 years and provides an opportunity for immigrants in our area to learn and develop their English skills while hearing about Jesus in a morning or evening session. This group will resume meetings in September. Please check back to register as a student or volunteer.

CHURCH UNDER THE TREE

FOOD FOR FAMILIES

Food for Families – On the second Saturday of each month, our Food for Families team picks up food from Crossroads Community Services, sorts it on church campus, and receives families struggling with hunger needs as they pick up their personalized, nutritionally balanced food. Normally, we provide 7 days of food for every month. Click the buttons below to volunteer or to help a family that may benefit from this ministry.

MERRY MATMAKERS

A creative way to recycle plastic bags and make sleep mats for our homeless neighbors while joining a great group of encouraging prayer warriors in blessing some of the least of these. Join these ladies throughout the week to continue the process or find out what you can do at home that will help them simplify their process and be of value to others. Together they have created over 500 mats in just over 3 years and are headed “full-speed” toward 600+! If you would like more information please click:
