For Richardson. For the World.
We Read Together
We Read Together is Richardson ISD’s volunteer initiative to champion early literacy skills for students. Students who enter school lacking reading readiness or who don’t read at grade level need additional interventions and resources to catch up to their peers. We know community volunteers and mentors play a pivotal role in advancing literacy skills, and helping more students learn how to read, write, and play.
RISD volunteers helped 85 students last school year and 84% of kindergarten students in the program met or exceeded their MAP growth goal for the year. We Read Together is helping close this achievement gap. We have a great group of volunteers who logged almost 2,000 volunteer hours. We need MORE volunteers for the 23-24 school year to grow the program. Click the link below to register to become a We Read Together partner!
We will have a training session on October 1 at Noon in Fellowship Hall.
In the summer of 2018 our church began a mission. That mission was to get into the hands every student of need in RISD the supplies they needed to start off their school year. As the event grew we partnered with RISD and the community so that we could serve more students. Every year we come together to give and volunteer our time to the community of Richardson.
Austin Street Shelter
The 4th Thursday of every month our church prepares delivers and serves 450 baked potatoes with all the fixings to our homeless neighbors at Austin Street Shelter. In addition to that we also spend time developing relationships and praying with those at the shelter.
Church Under the Tree
This outreach to homeless neighbors in Plano meets weekly at Haggard Park beginning with lunch at 1:30PM on Sundays. Come join us in providing a much needed meal, friendship and a Gospel message with these neighbors. If you would like more information about this ministry please click the button below.
Food For Families
On the second Saturday of each month, our Food for Families team picks up food from Crossroads Community Services, sorts it on church campus, and receives families struggling with hunger needs as they pick up their personalized, nutritionally balanced food. Normally, we provide 7 days of food for every month. Click the buttons below to volunteer or to help a family that may benefit from this ministry.
Merry Mat Makers
A creative way to recycle plastic bags and make sleep mats for our homeless neighbors while joining a great group of encouraging prayer warriors in blessing some of the least of these. Join these ladies throughout the week to continue the process or find out what you can do at home that will help them simplify their process and be of value to others.
The Community Garden currently has 24 raised beds. All harvested produce supports our Food for Families program as well as The Network of Community Ministries. ALL ARE WELCOME: free garden CLASSES and WORKDAYS. Volunteer with DONATION beds, or RENT your own!
Join us as we partner with Cornerstone Ministries in bringing Christmas joy to families walking through a challenging season of life. Through this unique ministry we bless the families who are faced with immense challenges.
We’re excited for you to use our Community Trailer as a tool to intentionally connect with your neighbors and to encourage them to connect with Jesus. Please fill out the form and we will be in touch to discuss details.
Smile Stitchers is a ministry that has been featured in news media more than once. This group of dedicated Stitchers comes together for fellowship and a labor of love. The labor comes in the form of little finger puppets that they sew together to give to children’s hospitals for kids that are sick and undergoing different medical treatments. These lovely little gifts help to comfort and distract the kids.

DATE: June 23-29, 2024
Come go with us as we return to The Valley! Our church has had a long and storied past and present with The Rio Grande Valley. As we return this year you will be able as a family to participate in assisting those that are new to our country through the Respite Center. A Center that helps those that have come through our border legally to get to their final destination. In addition, our local church partners are asking us to help with Back Yard Bible Clubs and ESL classes.
