Missions

For Richardson. For the World.

Our Missions Ministry at FBCR is centered on the idea of making disciples – both near and far. There are numerous ways to serve, both locally and beyond, and respond in obedience to the Great Commission. We invite anyone and everyone to join us as we impact our community for Christ.

    We Read Together

We Read Together is Richardson ISD’s volunteer initiative to champion early literacy skills for students. Students who enter school lacking reading readiness or who don’t read at grade level need additional interventions and resources to catch up to their peers. We know community volunteers and mentors play a pivotal role in advancing literacy skills, and helping more students learn how to read, write, and play.

RISD volunteers helped 85 students last school year and 84% of kindergarten students in the program met or exceeded their MAP growth goal for the year. We Read Together is helping close this achievement gap. We have a great group of volunteers who logged almost 2,000 volunteer hours. We need MORE volunteers for the 23-24 school year to grow the program. Click the link below to register to become a We Read Together partner!

We will have a training session on October 1 at Noon in Fellowship Hall.

    Backpack Bash

In the summer of 2018 our church began a mission. That mission was to get into the hands every student of need in RISD the supplies they needed to start off their school year. As the event grew we partnered with RISD and the community so that we could serve more students. Every year we come together to give and volunteer our time to the community of Richardson.

    Smile Stitchers

    Smile Stitchers

Smile Stitchers is a ministry that has been featured in news media more than once. This group of dedicated Stitchers comes together for fellowship and a labor of love. The labor comes in the form of little finger puppets that they sew together to give to children’s hospitals for kids that are sick and undergoing different medical treatments. These lovely little gifts help to comfort and distract the kids.
